To Trump I give my thoughts and prayers. Though in darker thoughts I have wished worse, they are sincere. Far more sincere than any he gave to those passed from a mismanaged Covid response. Far more than any he gives any victim of his hatred. Far more than "Agenda 47" will bring.

If you want to know where we are in America, a former U.S. president was just shot and the first thought from most Americans was not concern for the man, but concern this will incense his lunatic base and escalate into something much more dangerous.

There is absolutely no place for political violence in our democracy. Although we don’t yet know exactly what happened, we should all be relieved that former President Trump wasn’t seriously hurt, and use this moment to recommit ourselves to civility and respect in our politics. Michelle and I are wishing him a quick recovery.
