School improvement is complex. In my opinion, there is far too much noise in education that distracts leaders. 1. Establish a clear strategy (standards, routines, pedagogy, curriculum, etc) through a common language for all. 2. Communicate the why behind the strategy through filtering and sharing the most relevant research. 3. Create time to model and practice during CPD time. Ask the views of staff, students and families. 4. Ensure ALL leaders know and understand. It’s not just the person who might be the strategic lead for that area of school. 5. See what’s happening on a daily basis and provide lots and lots of feedback through coaching. 6. Find time to review and reflect and adjust where necessary.
