And we just can’t seem to finish off University station.

How often do you think about how Denmark is building a railway tunnel to Germany that will reduce travel time for people by two hours and massively decrease freight distances? Under construction now and due to be finished in 2029. More or less than the Roman Empire?

@AdamCSchembri I did think it was really pushy this time, with the constant text messages. I was told they would stop after I confirmed I voted with the online form, but they did not. You should at least give members the option to opt out altogether if they want to.

The UCU lost one member I recruited because this new recruit didn't like the heavy handed approach taken to ensuring members voted.

Building the union isn’t a spectator sport. This week is join the union week. I want every UCU member to pledge to recruit one new member this week. The longer the picket, the shorter the dispute. Join: ucu.org.uk/join #ucuRISING

I've added new distributional semantic models trained on word2vec for nouns, verbs, and adjectives to my OSF repository osf.io/n324f/ Also trained on COCA and COHA, they perform better than the older 'bag-of-words' models I used earlier. Have fun!

Eek. It's finally out. Actually feeling quite emotional to receive my free copies just now. This was a long journey!

@dagmardivjak @mbgantwerp @srbdts @RemivanTrijp @lauren_bliksem @evaeva_z @BodoWinter @JWGrieve @LauRomain I think it's already been mentioned, but there's a whole body of research using DSMs/word embeddings/vector-space models that is probably worth mentioning. I have some UB work myself applying the approach to the study of the productivity of constructions.

Am writing a piece on #computational approaches in usage-based #linguistics. Which authors and papers would you like to see included?

In the Sinclair Lecture on Thursday, @dagmardivjak will be addressing the question: do the patterns we find in corpus data with the help of statistical techniques exist in the minds of language users? Please register for the event here:

I've made the distributional semantic models used in my work on syntactic productivity available in an OSF repository: osf.io/n324f/ Long overdue (and they might be somewhat outdated) but hopefully they can still be useful!

No to #ClapForCaptainTom. Of course, I admire the man greatly and am sad that he passed away, but just bloody well fund the NHS properly so people don't have to do laps of the garden to raise money for it.
English

@AdamCSchembri So did they publish the letter? (The letter ends by asking for it)
English

@AdamCSchembri Sounds like something someone would write fifty years ago, when corpus linguistics was still controversial..
