Dear friends, I could use your help! I'm looking for data on lodging houses in cities during the 19th C. This data is difficult to track, and mostly hides in niche local histories. If you have/know any, feel free to DM/mail me, I will be eternally grateful! 🙏 #twitterstorians

@_shengche Same here. Bought a skateboard when I turned 27. Broke my hand on the third ride and never tried again. Still want to be a skateboarder though. I think it's the swag. I want the swag even though I know damn well I lack the balance.

@macgintysgoat @AdamCSharp Ah, this one is used in Dutch (or at least some Flemish dialects) too!

This is a thread of phrases similar to “a few sandwiches short of a picnic” from around the world, starting with this one… There’s a colourful old Swedish idiom that goes hjulet snurrar men hamstern är död. It means “the wheel is spinning but the hamster is dead”

Today is #internationalarchivesday Stating the obvious but @Back2FutureERC is impossible without archives. We cannot do without the preserved sources, digital scans, the inventories archivists have made, the infrastructure they provide and their kind and generous guidance. Thanx!
