As someone who was an adult during the 2008 recession, why haven't we called this a recession yet?

US shale production peaked in August 2025 and is down 158,000 Bbl/d from its high, yet I continue to see tweets from a certain US high ranking official proclaiming "record oil production...they've never seen anything like it...bigger than anyone has seen before."

@ekwufinance Trump destroyed the oil industry multiple times already, and will do so again No E&P will invest in this environment knowing Trump will pull the rug the second he can, so Trump can demand they increase production, but they won't

The US is invoking the Defense Production Act to push oil producers to increase output Most US refineries are set up for heavy crude, while US production is mostly light sweet crude... additional production is likely to be exported, not used domestically - If the war is ending soon, why force production higher - Why not let higher prices do the job via the free market Looks less like a short-term fix… and more like preparation for something longer

This is huge. The American Bar Association is an illegal cartel which for some reason has been given the sole authority to determine who can be an attorney and who can be a law school. Its illegal monopoly needs to be nuked.

@jeremymunson At this point the only solution is to let the fraud accelerate so the system collapses faster which removes the government's ability to spend at all, nothing else will stop this

A 1.2 billion dollar spending bill was just introduced in the Democrat-controlled MN Senate. This bill redistributes $1,500 in cash to any applicant who is expecting a child and then pays $750 cash every month for the first two years of each child's life. This totals $19,500 per child. The income cannot be taxed as income and won't disqualify any other welfare benefits, taxpayer-funded childcare, housing assistance, or other cash welfare, and is not restricted to a set income level or immigration status. An average of 66,000 births per year in Minnesota amounts to 1.2 billion in taxpayer redistribution. There are no guardrails for fraud listed in the bill, which can be read at revisor.mn.gov/bills/94/2026/… Even after all the programs rife with billions in fraud, it doesn't appear democrat legislators can create new programs with any guardrails. Democrats are teeing up their bills in hopes of winning a DSA Trifecta this November. Vote for fiscal sanity. Hope for a Republican trifecta so we can end the rampant fraud bankrupting our state.

The last time debt hit these levels, America had just helped win a World War. What's our excuse today? Runaway spending. Bloated budgets. A uniparty that refuses to say no. I've said no. I'll keep saying no. But I need Americans to demand better from their representatives. wsj.com/economy/u-s-de…

Trump says Iran is asking for things he "can't agree with." But in reality, what he means is that he doesn't **want** to to agree to them. Ultimately, however, this is a negotiation. Both sides would have to swallow stuff they say they would never accept. The only question is about how would have to be more flexible: Iran or the US.

A 2005 state-designed worm designed to corrupt physics simulations sat undetected on VirusTotal for nearly a decade. Fast16, intercepted executable files at the kernel level and silently rewrote floating-point calculations to make them produce slightly wrong answers. Targets: high-precision engineering suites used for structural analysis, crash simulations, and physical process modeling, including LS-DYNA, a tool cited in reports on Iran's nuclear weapons research. The sabotage vector relied on deployment of the driver across a network via worm, corrupting calculations on every machine, and eliminating the possibility of cross-checking results against a clean system. Stuxnet got the documentary. Fast16 got twenty years of nothing. sentinelone.com/labs/fast16-my…

At this point, it's looking like Spirit Airlines is likely going to cease operations. For anyone who paid any attention to this sector, it seemed inevitable. They filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2024 after a blocked JetBlue merger and then filed again in 2025. All their restructuring with cutting their fleet was still not enough to save them. Especially with other airlines offering better quality economy experiences. You can laugh at them because, realistically, they are a dreadful company that offers a horrible flying experience. Rude staff plagued them, and the customer base made the already annoying experience of flying into a Greyhound bus experience in the clouds. Before you laugh too hard, though, realize this has downstream effects that are all negative. This is what I call the Katrina effect. After Katrina, the influx of NOLA refugees into Houston and Galveston completely wrecked both. The same may happen with airlines. The people flying Spirit are still going to want to fly, and they're possibly coming to your preferred airline. I only see one possible solution. Airlines could step up and create a budget class airline offshoot to keep Spirit travelers away from their flagship brand. I imagine Southwest and Frontier will absorb much of their customer base, but it won't be enough. Spirit closing could be a monumental disaster for air travel.

As the onshore oil inventory draws get momentum, more and more people from the energy world will scream at the top of their lungs. The problem is that even if the Strait had reopened in mid-April, the June low storage scenario would still play out because of the logistical timing issues. Now that we are here, we are barreling towards tank bottoms. It is what it is.

Stop electing these people. They’re all the same party and don’t care about us. You have to be a dumbass if you can’t see this by now. Keeping these people in power does no benefit. How about trying something different for a change. Do your homework, vote a new candidate or don’t vote at all but stop electing dipshit incumbents.

Covid restrictions were intentionally designed to be as ridiculous as possible. It was a test to determine whether fear could be used to manipulate people into complying with overtly nonsensical rules, against their own interests. Most people failed the test.
