Please somebody tell me how can the U.S. impose a 20% fee on boats moving through a strait that has no jurisdiction for them whatsoever?

This has to be the slowest presidency I’ve ever lived through. It feels like Trump has been in the White House for an eternity.

Funny how some of the richest people around didn’t build a company, invent anything, or create jobs. They just got elected. Somewhere along the way, public service stopped being about serving the public and started looking like one of the best career moves for getting rich. That’s a fucked up system. As long as power comes with massive financial rewards, don’t expect the people in charge to fix the game they’re winning.

Sometimes I wish I could spend one ordinary day in the late ‘90s or early 2000s again. No smartphones in everyone’s hands. No endless doomscrolling. Family dinners where everyone was actually present. Saturday mornings felt exciting. The people we lost were still laughing with us. Christmas felt bigger. Summer felt longer. Maybe the world wasn’t perfect, but it felt warmer. And I don’t think I’ll ever stop missing that feeling.

Now that Norway is out I am no longer routing for a team to win. Now I’m just routing for Argentina to lose.

People love saying “socialism never works.” Then they point to Norway as one of the best places to live. Funny how they forget Norway has universal healthcare, free education, strong unions, and public ownership of its oil wealth. Maybe reality is more complicated than the slogan.

More and more young adults are spending over half their income just to keep a roof over their head. Owning a home feels impossible. Rent keeps climbing. Wages can’t keep up. If this is the direction we’re heading, it’s no surprise so many people my age are scared about the future.
