@jeffbigham Not all countries have IRBs either. Shouldn't CHI be avoiding regionalisms?

@oulasvirta That's why we involve more than one human. That's what social organisation is for.

@GilbertCockton Well it's hard to get a model to do a task really well when you depend on an LLM. On the other hand, humans are not perfect either.

Exciting to see different ways in which LLMs can be integrated into our cognitive models: high-level control, sense-making, grounding. Still struggling with their low reliability though.

Interested in running #chi2027 or #chi2028? This is a reminder that there’s an open call for nominations for GC and TPC roles. chi.acm.org/open-call-2024… It’s obviously assuming some track record of eg experience of leading smaller conferences. More on the link. #chi2025

@vickytnz That "proper" usage is an invention by amateur 18th century grammarians. There is no case in English. The I/me "rule" is probably the most ignored in English usage.

My new "arrgh" grammar moment: having finally learned the proper use of "me" vs "I" (for example it's "between you and me" - as if the two names can be swapped for 'us' rather than 'we', it's 'me') it's now totally nails on chalkboard moment when I see or hear it used incorrectly

The one bit of Geordie slang I think I'm managed to learn to use appropriately is 'howay' and it is just an incredibly satisfying thing to type or say, maybe as it's pretty much interchangeable with the generic but less quirky 'come on'
