Analyzing Every Group - FIFA WORLD CUP 2026 โฝ๏ธโข๏ธ GROUP J Argentina ๐ฆ๐ท ๐ - Defending World Champions and back-to-back Copa America Winners, they are currently the number 1 ranked national team in the world. And still maintaining almost the same crop of players from the previous tournament victory, they showed no signs of weakness in qualifying by topping the South America qualifiers with the most goals (31) scored. They remain the team to beat at this yearโs World Cup with their talisman and captain, 8-time Balon Dโor winner Lionel Messi leading the pack once again and for the very last time ever, so trust the rest of the team to put in their all in defending their world title. However, we still donโt know how head coach, Lionel Scaloni, is going to utilize young and in-form midfielder, Nico Paz, who just won Serie A Best Midfielder honors for his performance with Como ๐ฎ๐น in the just concluded club season. Nonetheless, expect a very good outing from Argentina again in a bid to retain and win another world title. Austria ๐ฆ๐น - One of the most exciting teams coming from Europe into this World Cup, they are ranked 24th in the world. With a talented young squad led by German tactician, Ralf Rangnick ๐ฉ๐ช, who hammers on pressing style of play, they also led UEFA qualifiers with the most ball recoveries (174) in the final third. They are also the team with the second most valuable squad (โฌ263m) in this group behind Argentina, so they should do very well in qualifying out of this group. Algeria ๐ฉ๐ฟ - Former Afcon Champions and ranked 27th in the world, they finished from CAF qualifiers with the most average possession accumulated (83%). They have proved to be a very resilient team by beating the Netherlands 1-0 in a recent friendly, with exciting players like Ait Nouri ( Man City ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ), Amini Gouiri ( Marseille ๐ซ๐ท), 20 years old wonder kid Ibrahim Maza (Bayer Leverkusen ๐ฉ๐ช) and very talented goalkeeper Luca Zidane (Granada ๐ช๐ธ) in their ranks. They are in terrific form and trust them to cause at least an upset or two in this group. Jordan ๐ฏ๐ด - World Cup debutants and ranked 64th in the world, they are coming into this tournament as underdogs in this group. However, they showed they are not a team to be overlooked as seen in their outstanding performance in last yearโs FIFA Arab Cup where they topped their group beating 7-time Afcon champions Egypt and then progressed to the final only losing to eventual winners and current Afcon champions, Morocco, in a hardly fought final game. They play very compact as team though they have just one player in their squad who plays in one of Europeโs top leagues, Mousa Tamari (Rennes ๐ซ๐ท), so donโt write them off as they are capable of pulling shocking results to determine the final standings in this group.
