Something that sticks out to me besides the velo and stuff grades is how much horizontal break he’s getting on his fastball.
In his prime, that ride and run fastball was unhittable. In 2024, he was getting just 6.6” of run on his 4-seam.
He was averaging about 10”-12” here.

@HalToHell Can't be 54 outs in that scenario. Mexico cannot win a game where Italy records 54 outs in a regulation 9-inning game.
Either Mexico wins and they don't play the bottom of the 9th, or Mexico wins in a walk-off with 0, 1 or 2 outs in the bottom of the ninth.

If Mexico scores five runs tonight, no matter whether they win or lose the game, that would ensure the U.S. will advance out of pool play in the WBC.
But it cannot be announced that way at that moment if Mexico scored 5 runs, because it's not a 100% certainty.

Italy is mauling Team USA. It's 8-0 in the top of the sixth, and because of tiebreaker rules that factor in runs allowed, the Americans have put themselves in a position where if Mexico beats Italy tomorrow, the U.S. could find itself out of the WBC before the knockout round.
