@DAKingOfChicke1 So you think making racist and homophobic remarks could not amount to "real crimes"?
English

@IPledgeToThee I think it's a political decision to prioritise internet speech crimes over physical crimes. The same way it was a political decision to release thousands of prisoners, many of him will go on to commit real crimes.
English

Seen so many tweets along these lines.
In my personal experience:
My cousin traced her stolen laptop to an apartment – police did nothing.
My brother was mugged by people he knew – police did nothing.
Electrician at work was mugged by people he knew – police did nothing.

I had £13.6k nicked from me and the police said they couldn’t do anything about it, even though I know who the guy is, had evidence etc. Yet if I call the Metropolitan Police a bunch of massive fat spastics I might get in trouble?
English

@DAKingOfChicke1 Crimes are not political just because you or someone else believe that they shouldn't be crimes at all.
English

@IPledgeToThee And when it was last seen. They simply don't bother or don't have resources to do so , partly because they are busy pursuing political "crimes" and policing x.
English

@IPledgeToThee @DanielR5375 @ReasonableCop Genuine question, what percentage of police officers are response?
Cos I know of response officers on Per50's (probably the least flexible department) and then you have every other department uniformed and not, that absolutely could have flexibility built in for personal circs
English

@DAKingOfChicke1 Even if they did, it would require an officer to be available to respond. ANPR isn't God's gift.
English

@IPledgeToThee The fact they are able to snap my stolen car driving in a bus lane, not too far from where I live, and send me a fine the very next day - with a photo of the vehicle, leads me to believe they have all the necessary technology to locate where the vehicle has gone . .
English

@HardeepS__ @WestminsterPup That's wholly untrue.
Armed response don't carry pens.
English

@WestminsterPup Tell them the guy was driving 32 in a 30 road. They’ll have armed police outside the door in 5 minutes to fine him £300.
English

@DAKingOfChicke1 What, in your opinion, do you think the police could (or should) have done to get your car back?
English

@WestminsterPup Car got stolen from my driveway. The police did nothing as expected, but I did infact get a ticket as the thief was driving in a bus lane . Supposedly evidence that my car was stolen wasn't enough for the council to annul the fine ( after some fighting they finally removed it)
English

@WestminsterPup They finally caught him - within days of going on patrol - at the end of October, and by then he had done almost 4,000 car windows. Must be a £million + of damage, plus all the hassle, plus everyone ‘s insurance will go through the roof.
English

@the_roose1 @WestminsterPup Because trackers aren't as good as people think they are.
English

@WestminsterPup I also know people who have had bikes or phones stolen with trackers and the police don’t care. My honest question is why? Is it a lack of funding? Legal limits on what police can do? Has it always been this way, and people just notice it more because of social media? What is it?
English

@WestminsterPup It's because going after people for tweets is easier.
The average street copper these days is a humanities major. These people are not the ex-military hard nosed types of yesteryear. They are people whose grades were too poor to work for the Civil Service so became a cop.
English

@WestminsterPup ... any investigation is unlikely to lead to a prosecution or "a positive outcome"
Other issues:
Technology: an example - GPS isn't 100% accurate. Some are not hackable
Protocols: Police must follow strict guidelines in law. Sometimes, decisions are made by third parties.
English

@WestminsterPup Context:
First and foremost, an investigation depends on the support of a victim (with some exceptions).
The main evidential lines of enquiry are: witnesses, forensics, and CCTV images.
If none are available, then...

English

@FranklinVH2 Because there is no going upwards with being a train driver.
English

@itz_SC_S If the money was there, it probably would be available.
English

@ReasonableCop I think it’s a little easier if you have family around. But myself and my partner have no family in London to help. Honestly i think there should be some form of in house child care for all 999 services, that works alongside shifts
