I can't process how fantastic yesterday was. Five years of pain and dipping (8x) in various counties of this bird finally put to rest with incredible views of the Black-Browed Albatross yesterday evening at Bempton Cliffs. I've never been more relieved and happy to see a bird.

Has anyone got any tips on where to park and view the Canvasback at Abberton or the Black winged Kite in Norfolk please?

In the middle of doing a personal project using passive acoustic monitoring in sites where Lesser Spotted Woodpecker have not been reported for a few years and ebird hides all the locations for a species that pays no attention to people. Finding sites will be more difficult now.

@Jake_Gearty I know 1 West Sussex spot at least (the well known one) and various places in Surrey but want to try and establish if they are still to be found in places where the habitat is unchanged but the birds assumed gone or at least forgotten by most birders

Never give up! Took four visits but finally clapped eyes on a Norfolk Lesser spotted woodpecker in 2026. Hopefully one of several birds still surviving in the brecks.

@GibsonTomgibo They're still very present in East Sussex but I absolutely couldn't tell you where to look in West Sussex. But they're absolutely out there!

@Jake_Gearty I spent all morning searching local historical sites for them and not a peep. Even in the best looking local habitat birds are seen every 1-2 years. Still going to try those areas again.

So pleasing to see Goshawk going from strength to strength in Norfolk. This young female performed exceptionally well at close range. One of four birds seen today without much effort.

What can I say its been a good birthday this yr lots of nice new toys. Ive never used these before I only hope they're better than those crappy Muck boots I had that lasted just 3 years before totally falling apart. I might add my 18yr old cheap Dunlopes still look brand new.

Pleased to catch up with @Griffonfulture Southwold Hume's Warbler. Initially gave the run around despite being fairly vocal at times. It eventually showed fairly well before the rain came through. A subtly beautiful bird but made oh so distinguishable by that Pied Wag-esq call!

After to presumed Pallid Swifts were seen at the @SelseyBirder Bill yesterday, this morning we all joked about seeing one today, then at 8AM I scanned behind us and picked this up! 1/3

@BEACHYBIRDER A noticeably broad yellow-brow almost looked like Pallas's from some angles last weekend!

Beachy Head: Finally saw the lingering Yellow-browed Warbler above Francis Bottom, nice to see a return to form for these over the last few autumns. Also on the move, Crossbill, Siskin, Redpoll, Woodlark and several 100 Starling. @SussexBirding

A classic autumn weekend in Norfolk with friends and familiar migrants. Hume’s, Dusky, & YB Warblers, Richard’s Pipit, Lapland Bunting’s, SEO’s, Osprey, Sibe chiff, Rouzel, Cory’s Shear, a vast number of Crossbills, and a cracking Thai meal the highlights.
