In her head she might want to portray the idea of visting from time to time (if trusted), but her actions have dictated otherwise. Renoir is an intelligent man, maelle is naive. He knows she will never leave willingly.

@James_Red1 @ShitpostRock2 Yes but she also knows that he would never trust her to only visit intermittently, so she can't even try. Her only choice, in her own mind, therefore becomes to stay forever. That's what I mean with them both being to blame.

The NPC in gta5 have kids, it wouldn't be crazy to have them reproduced more as you play them game, rocks target just never did.

@CaffeineCat_ @HSolubilit55006 @ShitpostRock2 I think as “gods” and creators of life/ sentient beings, they have a responsibility for the worlds they create. Erasing everything because of your family’s irresponsible decisions is extremely selfish. To me there is a price to pay no matter the choice you make in the game.

@ShitpostRock2 Yes. He is the only sane person in Dessendre family. And he is absolutely right. He was trying so hard to heal and rebuild his shattered family while other members were trying to play their 'Grand Theatre'.

@Eclipse_cAnon @ShitpostRock2 We dont know they are sentient outside of maelle who we now know is a painter, they could all follow very strict rules like an NPC in a video game, the game could be contrasted to a person only wanting to play their brother VR game he made before he died, only its a painting.

@ShitpostRock2 No. The painters created sentient life, they are effectively Gods and have responsibility over their creations. He wanted to force his dying wife and their very disabled daughter to genocide the world so she could return to a life of mundane misery in a war against the writers.

@NicholasLMiles @ShitpostRock2 I think if Renoir knew she could live with visiting from time to time, that he wouldn't erase everything, but he knows she can't, and won't settle for anything other than permanent (at that point/cross road in the story).

@ShitpostRock2 He is part of their motivation for never wanting to leave, because they know he'll stop them from coming back by erasing everything. But also them wanting to stay is his motivation for wanting to erase it all in the first place. Both are in the wrong but with solid motivations.

@NicholasLMiles @ShitpostRock2 I think it's slightly misunderstood, he wants to erase his painting because I think he knows deep down she cannot stay away, even temporarily. She will be drawn to it, returning to drown herself in her brothers painting and ultimately get "lost" in his world and die "pointlessly"

@Dreamboum My only gripe with ff12 is vaan/penelo shouldn't have been the MCs, it should have been balthier and fran, focusing more around them, with vaan as a supporting role.
