@alexiwisteria @CatholicCharm I had one like that, too. I miss him so much. He believed everybody had a story and a valuable viewpoint, and there were very few things that couldn’t be solved by talking things through.

@CatholicCharm My dad was logical and steady. He’d ask questions instead of dismissing my ideas as emotional. After understanding what I was actually thinking, he’d give feedback. I still value his advice more than anyone else’s because he listened before he judged.

whenever we have conversation about teacher pay, I think we forget that even though most teachers aren't paid particularly well, there are states where it's shockingly abysmal. in my county in NC, you cap out at about ~$60k....after 25+ years of teaching.

Good… but why do we have to suffer under these relentless back-and-forth court decisions? It’s exhausting. Just let women talk to their own doctors and make their own decisions about their own bodies and their own health care.

@bambibristol My grandparents walked uphill both ways to school. I can drive only downhill. It’s all worth it if it means Trump and all the billionaires can use jets to fly distances that would cause us Midwesterners to say, “I’ll just drive.”

@MibshaD My state has a near total abortion ban (no exceptions for rape, incest, age/mental capacity/health of pregnant person) from conception. Supermajority GOP here just passed a bill that excludes certain conditions from legal definition of abortion. Contradicting medical definitions.

Just so we're clear: the pregnancy that ends up in the wrong spot, like the fallopian tube? The one that will NEVER turn into a baby and will rupture and kill your wife, daughter, or sister? Terminating that fetus is also an abortion, and they want to ban those, too.

Republicans are like: "You're not going to force my child to get a vaccine!" Republicans are also like: "Your child has to be exposed to MY RELIGION even if you as the parent don't want them to be."

This means that the Supreme Court will decide whether or not to ban medication abortions right before the midterms

Anti choicers want Plan B & birth control banned & are actively spreading lies. Plan B, hormonal birth control, & IUDs are NOT abortifacients. They CANNOT end an existing pregnancy. These medications prevent pregnancy & treat numerous conditions like PCOS & endometriosis.

Can someone let the AP know that violating court orders is not a sign of "executive power. " It is a sign of contempt, lawlessness and authoritarianism.

I just found out that in 2015, the Los Angeles SPCA gave their annual National Hero Dog award to a tabby cat named Tara. Yes, you read that right, a cat was given a dog award. It remains the first and only time a feline has ever won the title. A year earlier in Bakersfield, USA, four-year-old Jeremy Triantafilo was riding a bicycle in his driveway when a neighbor's dog escaped and went after him. The animal grabbed the boy by the leg and started pulling him down the pavement. Before anyone else could react, Tara sprinted across the yard and body-slammed the much larger canine. She chased the intruder down the street to make sure it was gone, then immediately ran straight back to check on the four-year-old.
