For the hockey folks on the TL, someone explain to me why 3-3 is the Olympic OT structure and if it hypothetically should’ve given the US or Canada the advantage on paper?

@JoeYurillo @BOGBackup1 Absolutely spot on analysis Joe. Not only that but apparently open nets are Canada’s kryponite as well. Not sure what else we could have done for MacKinnon to put us away. Anyways, congrats on silver Canada! Excellent work!

@Old_Jeff_Landis Sorry for the late reply, Jeff. I typically roll it when the delta for the short leg drops under 10, and I can receive a minimum $0.50 credit for a $10 spread.

@JoeYurillo Excellent thanks. At what point do you roll the untested side of your IC’s? When the tested short is reached? Breached? Or before?

(Calculations based on 1/23 Market Close) For all these spreads, I place a GTC order to close after capturing 50-55% of the potential profits. If they don’t execute before 21 DTE, I will look to close or manage them for an additional week. Last week, I adjusted several trades by rolling the untested side to around a 15 delta. This captures an extra premium while reducing my maximum loss. As I update this, I realize I forgot to roll my $SHOP trade. All my February expiry trades will reach 21 days on Friday. This week will be critical for the trades that are currently underperforming. For most of them, I plan to close for a small profit or loss, while those that aren’t challenged will allow to run into next week. Cash-Secured Puts 🟢 1 $AMD 2/20 $200 23% OTM. 🟢 1 $ATI 2/20 $115 7% OTM. 🟢 1 $CIEN 2/20 $200 10% OTM. 🟢 1 $CLS 2/20 $250 18% OTM. 🟡 1 $TWLO 2/20 $125 3% OTM. (Calculations based on 1/23 Market Close) My $TWLO trade bounced off the 200-day moving average as I had hoped. It’s still the only trade that’s really close, but anything can happen. I will probably close my $AMD trade today since it has already captured 86% of the premium. I was planning to close it on Friday but decided to let it run a little longer to recover some of the losses I will likely incur on my iron condors. $CLS has earnings on Wednesday, so I will close that trade either today or tomorrow. Summary This will be a big week for me closing trades as they approach the 21-day sweet spot. As I start freeing the capital from these trades, I will look to place new trades for the March expiration.

Yes, I went a little heavier than normal this month. I want to keep it around $100k at risk, and I'm at $120k. I had some extra cash this month as I have been stacking wins, so I sold a couple extra trades. I'm still experimenting a little with some longer-dated trades, and those are showing early signs of success. The defined risk is a critical component.

@Cnoifa66 The $SPX Trades are designed as set it and forget it since they close via cash settlement. I tweaked my May trade to make it a slightly lower delta.

@JoeYurillo Clean structure. Nice laddering across expirations gives you flexibility if volatility shifts. How are you thinking about adjustment if SPX tests those lower ranges?

(Calculations based on 1/16 Market Close) For all these spreads, I place a GTC order to close after capturing 50-55% of the potential profits. If they don’t execute before 21 DTE, I will look to close or manage them for an additional week. Three of these are being heavily tested on one side. I’ve moved the untested side closer to the money to help generate additional premium while reducing my maximum loss. I also moved in a few of the others that had gone far out of the money. Cash-Secured Puts 🟢 1 $AMD 2/20 $200 14% OTM. 🟢 1 $ATI 2/20 $115 8% OTM. 🟢 1 $CIEN 2/20 $200 18% OTM. 🟢 1 $CLS 2/20 $250 20% OTM. 🔴 1 $TWLO 2/20 $125 5% ITM. (Calculations based on 1/16 Market Close) I closed my $ALAB and $NBIS trades, both for a profit. Although it took 115 days, I made $291 on my $ALAB trade. When I sold the first put, the stock price was $242.91, and I sold a $220 put. During that time, I was able to roll my put from $220 down to $170, earning a profit each step of the way. The final strike was $170, and I closed the trade when the stock price was in the mid-$170s. Had I purchased the stock on Day 1, I would have lost close to $7,000, so I am quite pleased with my $291 win. With the capital freed up from closing those trades, I placed new trades on $ATI and $B. Currently, my $TWLO trade is the only one at risk, so I might roll it out a month. It’s just above the 200-day moving average, and I will close it at a loss instead of rolling if it drops below that. Summary I’m not planning to make any new trades right now. My current total Theta is about $883, so I’ll wait and see how that progresses. I might also keep adjusting some of my ICs to try to gain more profit.

@VotrubaLog Thank you. Since IV is high with that stock, it made it easier to roll for profit. I do not. I tend to close these around 70-80% as they move much faster than spreads do. With a spread, one side is always working against you, which is why I close at 50%ish.

@JoeYurillo Very nice and organized system. Thanks for sharing and well done with the ALAB trade rolls. For the CSPs, do you also place a GTC order to close after capturing 50-55% of the potential profits as with the spreads?

There is so much misinformation around owning EVs, especially Teslas. • No, you don’t get range anxiety. With a wall connector at home, you wake up to a “full tank” every day. • Tesla batteries are engineered for longevity, typically lasting 300,000–500,000 miles. • A Tesla is ~8x less likely to catch fire than a gasoline vehicle. • On road trips, Tesla Superchargers are conveniently placed along your route in locations where you can eat, shop, and rest. • Average charging stops take 20–30 minutes. You do not charge to 100% every time. • The average price per kWh in the US is $0.18. Charging a Model 3 Premium RWD costs only $14.70 for over 360 miles of range. (Can be way less in some states) • Tesla vehicles are among the best to drive in winter. Heat pumps warm the cabin quickly and efficiently, while instant torque and traction control provide excellent grip. • Tesla FSD can drive you from point A to point B anywhere in the US, including cross-country. • The only maintenance typically required is cabin air filters, tires, and windshield fluid. • New battery replacements start as low as $12,500 for Model 3 RWD models—not “$30–40K” as some claim. Battery cost is similar to (or less than) an engine replacement, but with FAR less labor. • EV brakes can last over 200,000 miles due to regenerative braking.
