“Belief” of any kind is religious type thinking.
What we want are good explanations or straightforward admissions of ignorance. Not “beliefs” in the “probability” of competing claims. That’s pure subjectivism.

@10001010110ab @JusBrierley @dr_mcgilchrist I’d say that anyone who publishes multiple books on the philosophy of mind with respected academic presses (that have been cited in numerous scholarly, peer-reviewed articles) counts as a philosopher (perhaps even one with some renown).

The cost of a college degree has skyrocketed, the signaling power of that degree has cratered, and the utility of the education these schools provide has gone to zero.
