when I decided to become a founder again in 2021, I promised myself I’d set aside more time to go on local adventures with my husband We lived in California 2009-2017 but so rarely explored it I dig the Thursday morning to Saturday afternoon getaway (5 hour drive each way max) — this time we did Pagosa Springs and Salida!

I just walked a mile in -20 degree Minneapolis weather. Here is how you survive! (Hint: it’s all about the gear!)

@thesamparr Agree with all the dads on here. I had my first child at 32 and second at 34, which is great but could be younger. There is too much talk about building your career, and not enough about building your family.

A man on the FatFIRE subreddit posted: "My spouse (29) and I (32) are on track for fatFIRE by our mid-40s. We want to focus fully on kids without sacrificing careers. Anyone had kids this late while fatFIRE-ing? Thoughts?" The top reply (pic below). A common thing I see amongst high earning people had kids late (mid 30s): I wish I did it sooner. (I'm in that bucket btw. I wish i did it sooner.) When my older friends told me that (that they wish they had kids earlier), I was shocked. Because almost everyone says "just wait, you have time! focus on your career! plenty of time." But that advice (have kids sooner) completely changed my opinion. the post: From the fatFIRE community on Reddit

Is there any hotel in the world that has charmin toilet paper? It is like all the hotels have decided to be equally bad on toilet paper, no matter the stars

My cofounder recently told me he keeps what he calls a “Top 50” list. It’s a rotating list of the 50 most important people in his life. When he has downtime and wants to catch up, he checks the list. When he’s in a new city and deciding who to see, he checks the list. He’s one of the most social and well-liked people I know — one of those people everyone wants to hang out with. And when he’s with you, you can tell he’s giving you 100% of his attention. But because of that, he used to overcommit. He’d spend time managing one-sided relationships and hanging out with people who didn’t really matter to him. The list helps him focus his energy on the people who actually matter. Not just close friends or family, but also people like mentors or old friends who’ve always been there. If you’re not on it, you might still get some of his time. But his best? That’s reserved for the people who matter most. It’s kind of ruthless… but also kind of genius? Especially for people who get FOMO or over exert. At the end of the day, you can’t be everywhere, and you can’t give your best to everyone.

When I was an EA, I didn't like the title EA and so I made up my own. This is standard practice. There are hundreds of titles for people who support execs.

still trying to decide on my goals for it but i’m thinking: -decide on an official name (right now i’m calling it the shark collage project but that’s not good enough) -set up an online retail store -partner with 10 stores & sell my merch to them wholesale

I want someone to explain to me, in detail, how exactly they believe murdering healthcare CEOs is going to make US insurance companies behave better.

I couldn't sleep last night after learning about the UHC CEO assassination yesterday. I am from Minnesota, near where Brian lived, and my dad worked in healthcare there too. My prayers go out to Brian's family, friends, and colleagues. ❤️

For many years my lawyer friends refused to talk to me about legal tech startups or any innovation across the legal tech stack. And then, AI scared the pants off of them and they became believers - proactively reaching out about new tech products. Incredible to see an industry and mentality shift so fast!
