@Keeeeeeja yeah, I was born in the 90s. My first instinct whenever I see something from the 80s or older was to ask my parents or anyone like "did everybody really dress like that?" or "did people really wear those hairdos?" bc I knew they weren't documenting every random moment of life

@Keeeeeeja @brownandbella This ties into their weird rejection of ideologies that used to come from subcultures and just taking the aesthetic of the subculture with none of the heart

@Keeeeeeja I think because virtual experience is (kinda) our lived reality. so many of our experiences are virtual (making friends, graduating, trends etc) that it’s easy for us to blur the two. not saying its right but experiencing smth virtually doesn’t make it any less real TO US

@Keeeeeeja media from past generations isn’t even as readily available as it was for millennials & early gen z. i remember (early gen z) watching 80s/90s music videos and past era documentaries for hours on mtv growing up. i don’t think younger gen z even does that bc it’s not on socials!

@Keeeeeeja Man, I dont even understand 90s/early 2000s spring break even tho I was tuned tf in every year....as a child. I didnt experience nothing but what was filtered for MTV

@Keeeeeeja Definitely not just a gen z thing. Seeing it across all generations like travel content for example. The human brain files it as having already lived the experience with no real memory to process it.
