@RonWyden will offer UC shortly on a 21 day extension plus declassifying a court order that is ALREADY required by law to be made public. Are republicans willing to let the authorization lapse over this document? Why?

THUNE says duration of the Senate’s short-term FISA extension is now TBD - as Sen. WYDEN raises objections Senate R leaders want 45 days. THUNE says they’re in talks w/ WYDEN But R leaders could also try to push forward: “Is he gonna object on the floor to a 45-day extension? We'll find out,” THUNE says

NEW: Sen. WYDEN, a key privacy hawk who’s long pushed to reform FISA, is opposed to allowing a time agreement for 45-day FISA extension, per source familiar w/ his thinking WYDEN will also attempt to UC a 3-week extension of FISA tomorrow that would include a provision declassifying the FISA court’s annual 702 opinion

FISA 702 expires tomorrow at midnight That provision authorizes warrantless surveillance of foreign adversaries—outside the United States It shouldn’t be reauthorized without meaningful reforms to protect U.S. citizens from warrantless surveillance Pass it on if you agree

Leading House Democratic FISA voices — @jahimes and @RepRaskin — say a three-year clean extension, if passed by the Senate, could not clear the House unless… The Republicans can pass a rule.

The NSA and FBI have been spying on you without a warrant using section 702 of FISA for decades. Trump wants Congress to renew the law. Here are concrete examples of how this law has been abused – across administrations – and why Congress shouldn't rubber-stamp it.

It's time to end the FBI's warrantless "backdoor searches" of Americans' private communications. Get a warrant. Protect the Fourth. Reform FISA.

Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR) on the lie that FISA Section 702, renewed last month through March 2027, is expiring & risking future terrorist attacks: “The status quo caucus always waits until the last minute, and then they go ‘Western civilization is going to end because the bad guys are going to run all over us!’”

Wyden to Gabbard: "Last year, your agencies testified that 'Iran's large conventional forces are capable of inflicting substantial damage to an attacker, executing regional strikes and disrupting shipping, particularly energy supplies through the Strait of Hormuz.' In other words, every problem were seeing now was predicted."

Senate Intel Cmte Democratic member Ron Wyden announces on Senate floor that later this week he'll introduce bipartisan, bicameral legislation to "enact critical reforms to government surveillance including (Section) 702...The past 15 years have shown that unless the Congress has an open debate about surveillance, the laws that are passed cannot be assumed to have the support of the American people. That's fundamentally wrong." Section 702 of FISA is set to expire April 19.

From the Wall Street Journal: The Price Break is Over. "Many businesses have tried to offset tariffs and other inflationary pressures through cost-cutting and by pushing back on suppliers. But some companies said those options alone weren’t enough."

I don't think most Americans realize how hard tariffs are about to hit them. The combination of 1) escalating tariffs, 2) companies slowly passing this to consumers, and 3) repeal of the de minimis exemption in the Big Beautiful Bill, a lot stuff will be more expensive in 2027.

We’re proud to endorse Sen. @RonWyden’s AWARE Act – bold legislation to ensure humanitarian aid reaches civilians in Gaza and to hold any government officials accountable for blocking life-saving relief. Denying food and medicine must carry consequences. wyden.senate.gov/news/press-rel…
