In the Callais decision, the Roberts Court just completed its effective demolition of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. The new MAGA double standard is that the deliberate destruction of a majority-African American or Hispanic district is perfectly permissible as a “partisan gerrymander,” but the deliberate creation of a majority-African American or Hispanic district is an impermissible “racial gerrymander.” The pro-MAGA majority has capsized the will of Congress and gutted the Voting Rights Act.

Trump's DOJ just criminally indicted James Comey for a beach photo of seashells and no other evidence cited. If that’s a crime in America, then what is: -calling the free speech of six Democratic Members of Congress “seditious behavior, punishable by DEATH”? -suggesting a former Republican Member of Congress should have to "face nine barrels shooting at her" with “the guns trained on her face”? Todd Blanche just said the beach-shell conspiracy “is the kind of conduct we will NEVER tolerate and we will ALWAYS investigate and prosecute.” Can we therefore expect investigations and prosecutions of these threats?

Those of us at the dinner on Saturday were made safe because of the large number of dedicated Secret Service agents and other law enforcement officials tasked with securing the venue. The world is demanding freedom for Peyvand Naimi, an athlete facing unjust imprisonment, torture and potential execution by the increasingly hard-line Iranian regime in Iran. Naimi has been targeted and scapegoated because of his Baha'i faith and coerced into false confessions. The Iranian regime must release Naimi immediately.
