Happy to share our latest publication in Nature Communications led by active graduate students, Fei Sun and Nourhan Ali! We found that increased DNA damage in full-grown oocytes correlates with diminished autophagy activation. nature.com/articles/s4146…

Follicle rupture occurs in 3 steps: first, the follicular fluid leaks out of the follicle (Step 1 - fluid rupture), second the cumulus cells burst through a visible gap in the follicle wall (Step 2 – cellular rupture) and finally, the egg is released (Step 3 – egg release). (6/7)
