There are some Africans born here who genuinely don't know the difference between English or Scottish Vs British. Their parents tell them they're Scottish, bc they think that's the way to fit in. They themselves know they aren't us but their need to be accepted is pathological & often rooted in an inferiority complex. However I've found far more often that it is performative &/ malicious, they'd never apply the same standard or rules to Whites in non-White countries, they know they aren't us but they relish the opportunity to pretend they are & to rub our noses in it.
