Game developers are facing an interesting dilemma today. Do you spend one generation's worth of GPU performance advances on real-time lighting or not? That's basically what you get with fully dynamic ray-traced lighting. Real-time lighting has advantages, but the cost is severe.

Five years ago, the PS5 was a steal at $399. Steam Machine specs are similar to the PS5 base model. The AI boom has significantly increased chip and RAM prices. Usually, you get a 10x perf boost in 5 years. Now you likely get the same performance and a higher price instead :(

@Lexoka @Bensuperpc Non ! La 2eme generation de cartes Tesla est basée sur le GT200 et c’est tout. Là c’est devenu “Le GT200 est une architecture Tesla 2.0”. A cette époque, Tesla c’était une famille de cartes, comme GeForce et Quadro. Aucune référence à une “archi Tesla” : nvidia.com/content/pdf/fe…

@Bensuperpc La première archi NV basées sur le nom d'un scientifique, c'était Fermi. Je me souviens bien du foin qu'ils ont fait avec ça sur leurs roadmaps. Tesla, c'était une gamme (comme Quadro), pas un nom d'archi à l'époque (même si c'est repris partout comme ça maintenant)
