I have no issue with high speed rail. I've used it 5 times in the last 6 weeks while here in Europe. It's great when done right, but I have zero faith that will be the case with Alto.
I do have several issues with the Alto project, starting with the Federal government calling it a nation building project. It's a regional transit project - full stop.
I also have a problem with the cost estimates and timeline - I have no faith in either. Their estimate per km is already double what it costs in Spain for example and then you add on the past decade of transit debacles and I'm confident it will be a disaster.
