Trump started a war with Iran and assassinated their leaders. The US government had been bombing the country for months and killing civilians. There’s no moral high ground here despite Trump’s preemptive effort to cast himself as a victim.

I'm not a pilot, but I do understand good military leadership. IMO, the material issue with the South Carolina AH-64 flyby is not whether or not it was unsafe. The issue is the "investigation" and the investigatory culture that has come to permeate our military and stifle risk taking and initiative. This was not a crash (crashes do require investigations to determine causes). Assuming for the moment that these pilots deliberately decided to hot dog it in an unsafe manner, the answer is not an "investigation." The answer is that their commanding officer gets them at the position of attention in front of his desk, he chews their a$$es up, down and sideways, he assigns them all some nasty additional duties that no one wants to do that serve as punishment, and he threatens to court martial them if they ever do it again. Problem solved, no careers ruined, safety culture enforced, leadership exercised, no investigatory culture destroying initiative. My 2c.

Look, I get it. I used to work on Apaches. They're cool as hell, and I promise the pilots were just as amped as the crowd. However, safety regulations are written in blood. There's a reason they weren't supposed to fly over crowds at such a low altitude. At that altitude at that speed, if anything had gone wrong, we wouldn't be seeing people crying about how unfair it is to the pilots. We wouldn't be seeing Kegsbreath saying "we'll fix this." We'd be seeing people demanding answers about why they were flying like that. We'd be seeing crying and angry families on the news demanding justice. And we'd be seeing the Secretary of "War" throwing these pilots under the boss so fucking fast there wouldn't even be skid marks.

35 years. Knowing he was here illegally. Knowing the consequences of that decision and the risks that came with it. Who apparently ignored orders from law enforcement. Who struck an agency vehicle while attempting to evade law enforcement, endangering the public. Who then tried to escape by driving OVER a federal officer. It's sad, but everything that happened happened as a result of his own decisions. I have sympathy, but they are reduced greatly by his actions.
