One of the best ways to tease a song on social media is to show people how; 1. To use the song 2. It applies to their reality/context 3. It provides entertainment. It is important to creatively interpret the message of the song such that those who can perceive its economic or emotional value can understand how the song connects, while those who it isn’t meant for can easily disregard. An example of this is how Boy Muller, NO 11 and Priest pushed Lapopiano, How Far and Akonuoche respectively. Those who connected with one or all these songs did so because these Artistes creatively communicated the message of the song to their target audience in clear, simple and applicable way. Of course different approaches can be deployed depending on the song, the Artiste and the target audience. But some patterns never fail when it has to do with communicating value in a song. Packing yourself wearing all black in a room and moving your hands and legs while singing the song doesn’t effectively communicate value or inherent usefulness of the song to people. As good as the assumed value of the song is, this content signals lack of creativity, purpose, intentionality and value, which can create a wrong impression and prevents people from engaging, and going forward to listen. As much as you want to create awareness about your song, the first content you put out must either elicit interest through the value in the song, or showcase some form of compelling entertainment. Don’t just be good, be valuable.
