Gr. 2 Ss stopped me in the hallway to ask: how many sounds are in ‘read’? How do you map the word ‘sunny’? These wonderings have now placed these words into their memory. The level of engagement and excitement in #structuredliteracy is astounding when students see the code!

Amazed by Ms. Leong’s grade one class who are now able to hear and write the different vowel sounds. Blends, digraph and compound words are a piece of 🎂 for this class! So much progress but clearly so much effort and work to get here! 👏 #scienceofreading #structuredliteracy

To add other graphemes on the right, I made sure to write on the outside of the lamination so I can erase and add other graphemes that we will learn later on. #structuredliteracy

Daughter: “Grumpy uses all the boxes!” I see value in using these in small groups. As a personal preference I went with magnets vs. Velcro. In hindsight the “qu” grapheme would replace the blue “q”. I wrote on the placemat where to place the graphemes on the right. @UFLiteracy
