@memecoinslunar @raweezzyy Israel is not a victim. Israel is not innocent. Israel was attacking South Lebanon before the PLO even existed.

Seeing my people suffer so much in Lebanon has made me very sensitive to people’s stories and history. It’s impossible to know everything, but I promise myself to learn as much as I can about countries and communities who had similar fates. It all matters and it all connects.

@Khosrow30 Since Khomeini died, clerics have mostly been replaced by rich businessmen, neoliberal oligarchs, in who actually has power. Ali Khamenei and the son were/are both mostly figureheads Mandatory hijab by the state was a distraction from neoliberal mass looting of Iran's wealth.

@AmirKf7 Btw GAMAAN which claims that only 32% of Iranians even identify as Shia Muslim and is often cited by people who claim "most Iranians now hate Islam itself and not just the regime" also says 20-30% of Iranians are still pro regime and/or pro-religious governance.

@AmirKf7 20-25% of Iranians are still pro regime even according to GAMAAN. And most secular indifferent and anti Islam Iranians side with Islamic Republic in war against the US and Israel. There hasn't been a single defection from the IRGC and Artesh after 3 months of war.

No matter what your theory about birth rate collapse is, there’s some data point that disproves it. Japan didn’t have the pill when fertility collapsed. There are highly patriarchal countries where fertility is collapsing. It’s collapsing in countries that are still poor. It’s collapsing in places with more generous social support for families. It’s almost like a psychic alien just decided to phase humans out.
UBERSOY@UBERSOY1

Japan never legalized the Pill until 1999. Their fertility still crashed in 1970 anyway.

A number of Sheikhs agree that a Muslim man residing in a Non-Muslim country is prohibited from marrying a Christian/Jewish woman. If that Muslim man living in America divorces his Christian wife, she will take custody of the child and raise that child upon Christianity. Why would anyone risk such a thing? What’s the point of having kids if they end up as Kafirs? The entire legal/social system in America is predicated upon Kufr, the advantages are given to Kafirs over Muslims, and I know countless stories of Muslim men who married Christian women in America/Europe and their children end up becoming Christian/Atheist.
سمير@Hazarewali1453

I don’t understand how a Muslim man could marry a woman from Ahlul-Kitab. She’ll probably raise your children wrong, but the main concern I’d have is the perpetual uneasiness and fear that my spouse will be in eternal fire. Dawah may or may not work. It’s terrifying.

You can hate the Islamic Republic regime all you want, you can want it replaced with a pro-west and pro-Israel secular regime all you want, but the truth is the only way that there will be regime change in Iran any time soon is with a massive ground invasion and a commitment of tens of thousands of US troops who will be fighting a few hundred thousand IRGC, Artesh and Basij troops to the death. It will not be Saddam's army collapsing as US troops marched north. That's just reality, and it appears that the Trump administration recognizes it. So everyone who is advocating for Trump to "finish the job" and bring about regime change should also admit that it will result in the deaths of many thousand Iranians and many hundreds if not thousand US troops, and may still only result in a civil war or an insurgency that will make Iraq look like a walk in the park. It's not about liking or disliking the regime: it's about reality. Any realist expert or credible analyst could've told Trump on February 28th that starting a war with Iran was insane and could be his undoing....

@SweiiZen @theiranimaestro They're pro Islamic Republic in war with the US and Israel. There has not been a single defection from the IRGC or Artesh after over 3 months. We're not seeing a fast 2003 Saddam style collapse of the Islamic Republic regime, it's surprisingly resilient.

@SweiiZen @theiranimaestro Yes 80% of Iranians even religious Shias hate the Islamic Republic and many maybe even hate Islam itself, they hate the Islamic Republic's internal economic policies and mandatory hijab, but that doesn't mean they're pro US or pro Israel.

@moslamicbh I believe Khomeini was a strongman and smart albeit with some flaws. But after Khomeini died, the Islamic Republic turned neoliberal oligarchic with theocratic characteristics.

@SweiiZen @theiranimaestro Yes many Iranians not just Sunnis are victims of the regime, most hate hate the regime for mandatory hijab or economic reasons, but that doesn't mean they'll support the US and Israel against Iran. Many Iranians who hated IRI fought for IRI against Saddam's Iraq too.

@Khosrow30 @hmajd Yeah the Shah supported Amal (the largest Shia party in Lebanon before Hezbollah) and had a close relationship with Musa al Sadr. He also gave massive loans to Hafez Assad The “Axis of Resistance” has its foundations in the Shah era. It wasn’t created by Khomeini out of nothing

Lmao indeed. The last "Imperial Persia" never officially recognized Israel (had a diplomatic interests mission in Tel Aviv but not official and full recognition). The Shah was critical of Israel at times, and his balancing act with the state was partly because of his antipathy toward Palestinian terror groups who he considered in the Soviet orbit (and thus anti-Iran). The last pogroms against Jews in Iran were all under "Imperial Persia". Look it up: throughout history but last in the early 20th Century. While most of Iran's Jews--over 100,000 before the revolution--emigrated, mostly to the US (along with millions of Muslims who also didn't want to live under an Islamic regime) it can be argued that the Jews that have remained (some 10,000) have suffered less oppression under the Islamic Republic than under "Imperial" Shahs throughout the history of the monarchy, with the exception, of course, under Cyrus the Great and Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the very last shah.

@hmajd The only well known organized Iranian opposition are Reza Pahlavi which is a joke and MEK which is totally out of the question because of how the MEK sided with Saddam in the Iran Iraq war. That’s why IRI remained in power for so long, it’s the only serious option as bad as it is
