@all__hype but if you are just SSH into another box running Tmux this doesn't matter. You could connect with ANY device. Vibe code a little web interface or something...

Am I just wasting my time by avoiding AI while building projects?

I feel like reading books NOT about software engineering make me a better developer than grinding away at architecture/language. Design and architecture is universal. Why are some city's streets perfect grids and others just paved over ox trails?

@IamAroke You should assume infinite intelligence and zero knowledge even in yourself. Adopt the beginners mind, for both yourself and others. It should be a fascinating and curious affair to not know something otherwise you probably lord your expertise over people. Nobody respects that

Have a junior developer ever asked you a question you don't know and how did you handle it?

SQL was designed with a human in mind, typing a string into a terminal. It was not designed for machine to machine queries, which is how we use it. SQL should be a lisp dialect with a REPL notebook.

@Akintola_steve SQL is just string composition. Why do you need a ORM for this again? With agents available how hard is it to write your own string builder library? What I hate most about ORMs is you cannot tell from the usage WHAT it's doing. I want to write my own SQL.

Raw dogging plain SQL queries directly inside your backend service vs using ORMs, what’s your take? Speaking strictly from a performance and speed perspective, which approach do you prefer and why? Do ORMs introduce unnecessary overhead, or does the maintainability, abstraction, and developer experience they provide outweigh the performance difference? I’m curious to hear how engineers approach this in real-world production systems.

@iximiuz Yeah if you have JSON structured logging just tell it to jq that bad boy The other upside of this is now I tend to just log more

My next productivity boost has come from giving the coding agents read-only access to production logs. Holy moly, I'm unstoppable now.

So AI kind of solves the problem of generating large amounts of code. But have you actually wondered if we needed that much in the first place? What if the AI making 100x more code trivial - met the framework that made building webapps 100x simpler ? Not sure If I should multiply or just add those at this point...

@NikolDimit @IamAroke I have a set of useful graph queries I use for troubleshooting issues with users / development. Also I have some CQRS commands need to hit from time to time.

Alright @BenjDicken you’ve convinced me databases are cool. I wanted to ingrain the fundamentals so so now I’ll be writing a poor man’s database in Rust. I’ll try to post a weekly article documenting everything I’ve built.

🚨 The SAVE AMERICA ACT debate just exposed the ugly truth about the Left: They think Black voters, married women, and rural voters are too stupid to figure out how to get a free ID and vote. What a wildly condescending, elitist argument. Democrats aren’t protecting voters — they’re insulting them while fighting to keep elections vulnerable. Scott Jennings nailed it on CNN. Voter ID is common sense. Period. Agree? 👇 #SaveAct #VoterID #ScottJennings #CNN #Democrats
