Having taken the time to read Blair’s latest brainfart it’s unbelievably bad even for him - work with the Tories to slash welfare - stop illegal migration “by any means necessary” (sink the boats and drown them?) - take away workers rights to “give business confidence” … 1

This really is tone deaf stuff from Blair. The extreme, neoliberal, centre is what’s led to a cost of living crisis, food banks and wider decline in our country, and why people across this country are rejecting it outright. It’s his brand of politics that’s led us to an utterly broken country. It’s crystal clear Tony Blair does not care about the lives of working class people.* And, this intervention definitely does not speak on their behalf He speaks for the billionaire class, vested interests and the status quo with the aim of protecting their wealth and power, much like his great friend Peter Mandelson. His institute are bankrolled by big tech and corporate interests, not the 99% struggling through austerity, insecurity and inequality. They don’t represent ordinary communities nor possess the answers to the problems facing the country in 2026. Time to bow out Tony you have done enough damage.

Tony Blair has nothing to offer Labour in 2026. His neoliberalism, backing of endless wars and acceptance of inequality are exactly what Labour must break from if it wants to rebuild support and defeat the far-right.

@PatChanse1 I don't want to put words into Blair's mouth but his message is clearly that social democracy as we know it has become irrelevant in 21st century Britain. He's clearly advocating a son of Blairism.

Powerful stuff from Sir Tony #Blair. His message is that there isn't a #Starmer problem but a #Labour problem. Blair says none of Starmer's potential successors would be any better because the party as a whole is stuck in a Left-Wing comfort zone, without a coherent plan to fix Britain.
