This not particularly exciting building on Ladbroke Road housed the pretty exceptional composer Priaulx Rainier (1903-1986), who lived between here and her studio in St Ives, Cornwall. She owned a Zulu mask which apparently she’d put on at dinner parties to scare her guests.

Are you an accomplished orchestrator and engraver who can work effectively and efficiently under pressure in a variety of situations ranging from full orchestra to chamber music? I have a friend who is looking to engage someone who fits this description. DM if interested.

Despite the prosperity which a thriving arts and culture sector can bring to people and the economy, Conservative Ministers have consistently undervalued these sectors. Labour will celebrate the arts and culture and those who work (and aspire to work) within it. 2/2

Culture should be at the heart of the UK’s future. But this Conservative Government’s #KingsSpeech is another kick in the teeth for creatives. The only mention of the Creative Industries is in relation to the much-delayed Media Bill. And Music is not mentioned at all. 1/2

Under the Conservatives, opportunities for children and young people in state-funded schools to learn music have plummeted. Every pupil should have the same opportunity to learn music regardless of their background. The Government must act urgently to end this shocking disparity
