Fred, you seem like some liberal idiot who isn't man enough for tariffs. What would you do if you were president? Ok, here is what I would do: 1. Lower taxes immediately. Start with the carrot, not the stick. 0% capital gains would do wonders for US investment. 2. Force the Fed to lower short term rates. These tariffs are inflationary and they will keep the Fed on hold. Otherwise, Inflation was coming down on its own. I would have re-valued the Gold and started selling it to pressure the Fed before starting a trade war. 3. Deregulate now. Start with de-regulation and taxes. Start with things that move the stock market up not down. 4. Don't focus on DOGE immediately. As Luke Groman says, cutting too much too quickly will cause GDP and tax receipts to fall. A better way to solve the deficit is just cut interest rates and let it gently inflate away. 5. Get to work on the energy policy asap. All in favor of Drill Baby Drill. Not in favor of a trade war with Canada which will place taxes on Canadian shale oil. And for the record, I vote republican.
