Gonna try to be objective because Lithgow has potential to be the best incarnation of Dumbledore but his actions have rly put me off him. I mean if you disagree with Jo fundamentally (& feel the need to so publicly) despite accepting her cash, you're the worst type of hypocrite.

@That_N8 Agree...I mean we're getting ANOTHER adaptation and one with a much longer screentime. I've never got the movie only mindset...like if that's your comfort movies nobody's taking them away from you. But equally let us enjoy the TV series!!

@ProfWaffling Folks would be much happier if they consider everything new we're getting now as a bonus. What really matters are the books. Unless Jo ever writes another book set in this universe, there's no reason to freak out. People who think the movies will magically disappear are weirdos.

As a book fan, I think it's safe to say the HP movies get a lot right but at the same time leave a lot to be desired in many ways. The same will undoubtedly be true of the new TV series. It's not going to be perfect but it doesn't need to be. It's an adaptation

For some reason after growing up during the fantastic HP, LoTR eras I never appreciated how lucky we were. Recently felt we'd never get something of their calibre and then along comes Dune. Imagine if we got something even half as amazing kicking off the Narnia franchise.

I get that Herbert includes some whacky storytelling aspects difficult to put across on screen but I did dislike the change from Alia as Baron's murderer to Paul. It felt a bit like it sanitises the story.

Excited but wary for the Dune trailer. I'm intrigued to see how Villeneuve ties up everything, although presumably WB won't be able to resist making further installments.
