Don’t play the blame game.
Coach/teach responsibility and accountability.
Kids will thank you later.

One of the best life lessons a youth coach can teach their players: don’t fall into a blame mindset. Too often young players learn to blame teammates/referees or to make excuses. If coaches and parents do that, it’s quite likely the kids will, too. Adults need to set the example.

@ProspectComm Parents hate this message. In a game where my team missed dozens of passes, misconstrued tons of balls, missed shots, etc— yeah, it’s the ref’s fault they lost the game??

@JimHaverstrom @momknows1 All good points, Jim @JimHaverstrom Thanks. Hopefully the good news is some are acknowledging "what they don't know" or fully understand, and are at least trying to do a better job of putting themselves in their players' shoes.

@ProspectComm @momknows1 Unfortunately the majority of people leading youth sports organizations aren’t trained in youth development or have even a rudimentary understanding. This often leads to this is the way we have always done it and it worked. Most are well meaning just uneducated.
