Why do we cheer for discounts in the supermarket, but completely panic when our assets go on sale? 1p Challenge Day 78. I have moved 78p in to the $VHYL, $VUSA and $JEPQ pies. The global markets have taken another obvious hit today. If you look at the raw numbers, the total portfolio value has dipped to £90.07. The current value of the pots is sitting slightly below the actual cash I have physically invested. For a beginner, this is the moment they usually get scared, turn off their direct debits, and run back to a standard savings account. But that is a massive mistake. This automated machine does not have a panic button. It took today's 78p and added slices of the most profitable companies on the planet at a heavily discounted prices. When the market eventually recovers, these cheaper units are the exact ones that will completely turbo charge your compound growth. You also cannot ignore the background noise.
