I agree that we should project a positive image by conveying to the world that we are a secure country. However, it is necessary to address security concerns along our western border before fully promoting this perception. In recent years, we have made significant progress in controlling sectarian violence, religious extremism and linguistic divisions in Punjab and urban Sindh. However, other parts of the country continue to face similar challenges. Although we provided foolproof security to our foreign guests during the past fifteen days, this was achieved at the cost of business activity and the freedom of our own citizens. The twin cities remained largely closed during this period. Nonetheless, the overall situation is improving and there is reason to remain cautiously optimistic.
Just had a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and I’m pleased to share that we have secured his approval for public attendance in all three PSL playoff matches as well. However, this comes with an important condition from his side that fans are strongly encouraged to use public transport or minimize fuel consumption while attending the matches, in line with the ongoing national austerity efforts.
