Thefts of catalytic converters across the state were rampant for a period of time. I took action in 2022 by introducing and passing a law closing loopholes around the sale of catalytic converters. This law put the burden on those purchasing catalytic converters which were likely stolen and immediately reduced thefts of catalytic converters. I'm proud of the work we did to get this passed even though there was heavy pushback from the other side. Without this law we would likely still be seeing many thefts.

I am so proud to announce that the Rhode Island Troopers Association is joining our campaign for Attorney General. This endorsement means the world to me — because the troopers who protect our highways, investigate crimes, and respond to emergencies every day know what this job takes. They've seen my commitment to public safety as a bail commissioner, as a prosecutor, and as a legislator. So many lives lost and so many lives changed since that day. My heart is with all of them as we remember.

I am heartbroken by the tragic event in Pawtucket. My prayers are with the victims, their loved ones, and everyone who witnessed this horrific event. I am also grateful to our first responders and good Samaritans who took action quickly. There is no place for this kind of violence in our state.

Toured and met many of the hardworking people at the Rhode Island State Crime Laboratory at the University of Rhode Island. In addition to the necessary work of testing and analyzing evidence, they train law enforcement in the collection and analysis of key evidence. The work done here is critical to convicting criminals and exonerating the innocent.
