.@elonmusk Elon, please don’t mock and promote hate toward already marginalized and at-risk-of-violence members of the #LGBTQ+ community. They are real people with real feelings. Furthermore, Dr Fauci is a dedicated public servant whose sole motivation was saving lives.

I don't understand people who don't wear their mask to the gym. Like, you care about your health, but not quite that much?

From a technology perspective, Wednesday's breach of the Capitol building may be the largest cybersecurity incident in US history as rioters gained physical access to some really important computers.

@mikeswriting I'm not trying to argue wether lockdowns are effective or not, just that comparing total deaths isn't a good way to assess if they are. There may also be a weird correlation between restrictions and deaths since states may increase restrictions when deaths are high.

@RyanGallus And pop density has been shown to actually not be a driving factor, multiple studies have shown

Since the pandemic began: The 15 states with the MOST coronavirus restrictions have an average total death count of -- 7,277 The 15 states with the FEWEST coronavirus restrictions have an average total death count of -- 3,317 Lockdowns don't work.

@mikeswriting Would be interesting to compare deaths per 100,000 people in these states, but there are probably lots of other factors this still wouldn't address (average age, population density, etc).

@mikeswriting Might be oversimplifying a bit here. States with higher populations are going to have higher total death counts, even with the strictest restrictions. Should be no surprise that a state with 40M people has higher total deaths than a state with 1M.

A lot of good points made in the last debate, but Biden's small windows and Trump's knowledge of wind are definitely the most compelling ones.

It was an important point to make. The class had no curve, no extra credit. It was a difficult class and yet he became a favorite professor for many of us. I hope those Toyota engineers had a professor like him. (3/3)

When I was studying computer engineering I had a professor who, on the first day, passed around a body bag and made everyone put a hand on it. He said many of us would go on to work at places like Toyota or Boeing where our software mistakes could put people in those bags. (2/3)

A short rant - yesterday my new car wouldn't start. Toyota said a software issue had drained the battery. Dead battery isn't a huge deal, but software in that car can turn the steering wheel, accelerate, and slam the brakes. Could quickly become a much bigger deal... (1/3)

@mikeswriting Bold title 😂 but this was a good read! We definitely want to have confidence in the election results, but also make it as safe as we can for everyone. Hopefully there is some middle ground option.

@RyanGallus I have a story coming out tomorrow about universal vote-by-mail. Based on what I was told, I would think he has every right to be concerned with election integrity if that process plays a big part in this election.

@mikeswriting I'm always amazed at how reasonable people are when we cut out the left/right rhetoric and just have conversations on the issues. Most people just want to make the country better and differ on the best way to make that happen.

There are people on the left who would reasonably work with conservatives towards building a better country. It’s important we don’t ideologically demonize everyone opposed to us.
James Lindsay, anti-Communist@ConceptualJames

Every time people, especially conservatives, call Critical Social Justice activists "the left," it makes it that much harder for others on the left to distinguish themselves from left-wing extremists and more likely some will identify with that extremist ideology.
