Scientists in @NTUsg and @LMU_Muenchen have directly observed formation of polarons in a semiconductor. Ultra-fast imaging shows electrons doubling their effective mass and rapidly losing energy, confirming a nearly century-old prediction.

The NTU-SU Joint Winter School on AI for Sciences, organised by CoS and Sorbonne University, was held from 26 to 30 Jan. The programme brought together PhD students and faculties to explore the development and application of AI tools across various scientific disciplines.

CoS held its 13th CoS Day on 21 Jan. Organised and run by our student clubs, students from all 4 Schools came together to celebrate the OneCoS family. And for the first time, CoS Day was held together with the CoS Challenge, with students competing for attractive prizes.

In Chongqing’s rice paddies, we’re testing how rice farming can work with enhanced rock weathering to capture CO₂ — in collaboration with Southwest University. This field trip is supported by the Climate Transformation Programme. #CTP_EOS #EOSsg

Led by Nanyang Asst Prof Qiao Yuan, researchers from @CCEB_NTU developed an analytical platform that discovered an alternate signaling pathway between our immune system and our gut microbiome as well as the bacterial fragments involved. Read more: tinyurl.com/4z78hueh

A team of scientists led by Dr Meng Guo from @ntu_ase has developed the most comprehensive Earth system model to date that is shedding new light on the critical role of ocean pH levels in the emergence of early life. Read more here: tinyurl.com/y264ey4x

A team of scientists from @SCELSE_SG and @ntusbs, led by Asst Prof Anni Zhang (@AnniZLab), has developed a new DNA sequence alignment algorithm, called X-Mapper, that is significantly faster and more accurate than existing methods. tinyurl.com/22evjd8n

Congratulations to Assistant Professor Xiao Tianshu for receiving the 2024 L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Singapore award! She has been recognised for her work in structure-based and AI facilitated antiviral drug development, which is designed to fight infectious diseases.

Scientists from @ntusbs have shown that protein p52 in multiple myeloma, produced from the hyperactivation of signalling pathway NF-κB, reprograms DNA regions to express genes that drive the growth and survival of cancer cells in that disease. tinyurl.com/yt5hrzj3
