@EzraACohen The Mt Hood strawberries are like what you described in Europe. The problem is, while they are the best IMHO, they are delicate. They do not last long in a store, don't transport well. If it rains at the wrong time they burst or mold before picking.

Recently returned from a vacation in Europe. The strawberries there were red to the core and full of flavor, just like I remember from my childhood in Maryland. Now all the strawberries in stores have a white core and lack flavor. What’s going on?
