@CaryKelly11 I suspect people don't get as much sunburn w/ carnivore is not due to (lack of) seed oils (indirect; inflammation) but due to more readily available cholesterol. We ate more of it & the liver has extra capacity left to create more on demand. Conversion uses energy. So no burn.

Vitamin D is not a vitamin.
It's a steroid hormone synthesised in the skin from cholesterol via ultraviolet light, then converted in the liver and kidneys into its active form, where it regulates gene expression in virtually every tissue in the body.
We called it a vitamin because we discovered it while studying deficiency diseases in people who didn't go outside.
The name stuck.
The modern guidelines, designed for people who eat seed oils, avoid animal fat, apply SPF 30 before going to the letterbox, and work in offices under fluorescent lighting, are very effective at suppressing it.
You need cholesterol (eat fat) and sunlight (go outside) to make it.
We've managed to pathologise both.

"curing patients is not a sustainable business model" that's a goldman sachs equity research note.. sent to investors.. warning them that companies developing one-time cures were a risky bet because cured patients stop buying products.. the science to fix single broken genes has existed in research labs for years.. the same platform used here already cured a form of blindness in 2017.. cured spinal muscular atrophy in babies in 2019.. there are over 10,000 known single-gene disorders.. millions of people labelled "incurable".. the platform exists.. the proof is 10 out of 10.. the question was never whether they could fix it.. it's whether fixing it was good for business.

@SoothSpider @nivak86 @Rightanglenews In that case you can use router to drop outbound calls to port 53, transparent proxy on the router to redirext DoH/DoT back to pihole/dnscrypt, use piholeโs block DNS rebind feature, use dnsmasq or Unbound in recursive mode, etc etc

@GhostOf_J We're a far way from that. Also it's much more meaningful if Canada initiated that itself than if there was an external entity. Partially because the only external entity that qualifies is the USA who's judicial processes we can't trust right now either.

And that is why we need an external entity to come in and clean up the system, just like Germany needed the Nuremberg Trials after WW2 to clean up that mess. Change from the inside would have been impossible, and is impossible in Canada now.

@GhostOf_J I'm prepared to be disappointed. 2 disappointments actually. 1) That it won't happen. 2) That it'll be so shallow it'll basically be ineffective.
After 2, I fully expect them to teach how awesome it was in the history books, overselling the importance of it.

If the device ignores your configured DNS server then in order to force it to resolve your addresses, you have to intercept DNS requests over whatever channels they are trying to talk. PiHole itself (as you've admitted) doesn't do this.

@SoothSpider @nivak86 @Rightanglenews Pihole uses dnsmasq, itโs not a firewall, it doesnโt block ports, only handles DNS requests like ads.samsung.com and answers NULL, blank, etc.
No packet sniffing required for catching DoH, you can use a selfhosted DNScrypt service as Piholeโs upstream DNS.

@dragonauta @nivak86 @Rightanglenews They don't do this now but they will soon IGNORE your DNS server option from your DHCP server and go directly to a known address to for DNS resolution. Some apps on your phone already do that. This is just DNS pinning.

@dragonauta @nivak86 @Rightanglenews Explain this. I don't think it's true. Apps can 1) pin DNS servers (e.g. 1.1.1.1) 2) Likewise for DoH servers.
For regular DNS requests, you can detect traffic to port 53, but DoH requests are port 443. In either case PiHole itself can't do anything w/o a firewall rule.

Sister wants the farm. Father wants to stay. She alleges dementia, son says he is clear and rational. Police are caught in the middle. But enforcing a Thursday night order on Good Friday with no time for legal response is dirty pool. In the end the officers leave because they are not going to kick down the door and the son knows it. The son also says he doesn't trust the police or the courts. These days, I don't blame him at all.

@WestSeanye27075 @eevblog As long as there is staunch, vocal resistance, there is also some incentive for smaller manufacturers to target dumb TVs (like dumb mobile phones which haven't gone away).
Otherwise I'm just going to buy large monitors. ๐

It's very difficult to prevent TV use w/o internet currently as the unaware still expect it to work OOTB before they connect to the Internet. It's grounds to return it. But once the only use is streamingโฆ
