Reading YT comments about Discord scanning media is frustrating.
Media is scanned for specific reasons:
• Detect and block CSAM
• Generate thumbnails
• Respect DM content settings (blur/filter)
That’s about functionality and safety.
Other comments claim Discord is “pushing adults and children together.” There is no proof of that.
Most servers already require a valid invite or entry through discovery. There’s a barrier to entry. Shared spaces exist because users join them, not because Discord is forcing interaction.
Debate privacy trade-offs if you want, yet inventing motives doesn’t help anyone.
