Major League Baseball is aired in the morning for Japan. So technically they eat breakfast with it being on television. Here’s their #openingday commercial. No hyperbole, when I say this, it might be greater than any US MLB commercial I’ve seen. Well done and worth the watch for any baseball fan.

I give you the near-grid county map of Iowa (1). Almost the entire state is laid out in 1-square mile grids divided by roads. Case in point (2), a two-by-two mile area centered around my boyhood home. Note the divisions; the green square is exactly 160 acres. Easy to divide.

Because the USA is denominated in miles. There are 640 acres in a square mile. 640 can be divided by 2 easily. A square half mile is 160 acres, a square 1/4 mile is 40 acres, a square 1/8 mile is 10 acres. Nobody in America knows what a kilometer is, let alone a hectare

Greetings car mystery fans! A late start for today's episode of Dave's Car ID Service due to a little local car get-together, the Hot Rod Showdown in the charming burg of Wimberley, Texas. No big car history thesis today, instead I will share a few snapshots fresh off my cell phone. The show was pure concentrate of traditional style hot rods, which is my specific subcult of the global gearhead religion. And as you might suspect I am very detail oriented, and I will talk through a few of the delightful details I spotted. 1. 1928 Ford A roadster sporting a Fronty, a/k/a Frontenac overhead valve conversion head for a 4 cylinder Ford flathead. Frontenac was founded, oddly enough, by the Chevrolet brothers. Split intake manifold with Stromberg 81 carbs. 2. Sweet crimony. 21 stud Ford V8 flathead, McCulloch pancake supercharger, Ahlmquist slingshot with twin pot Stromberg 81s, rare Bohnalite aluminum heads. Check out the generator belt.
