TMU Prof @RaktimMitra is a lead researcher on the National Active School Streets Initiative. The project helps communities plan and evaluate car-free zones around schools, encouraging kids to walk, bike and play. With $3M from @GovCanHealth , the project is expanding across 🇨🇦!

Exciting updates! School Streets benefit communities but we need more data. A national pilot study across Canadian cities will help us find out. Prof @RaktimMitra will lead the 2025-26 eval at 2 Mississauga schools, tracking participants, demographics, and other key patterns.

New study by Attiya Haseeb & Dr. Mitra in 'Case Studies on Transport Policy' explores post COVID-19 travel shifts among students in GTA & Hamilton. Findings show a move from public transit and active travel to car commuting. This shift is linked to demographics and life changes.
