@taxgirl 7 days, tops. Most should be able to meet that deadline, and if not, then you probably don’t want to work with them because if they can’t give you a quote in a week, they won’t finish the job in the timeframe they give you either.

If you ask for quotes for work at your home, like plumbing or electrical, what's a reasonable timeframe for a response? (Assume custom work, not a quick install.)

"We're going to try doing our taxes on turbotax but if we can't what's the last day we can have you do it?" Oh honey, that's any day that does NOT end in Y.

@IraGilligan @MelHomeschools “It depends” has been reserved for the legal profession. Please use “good question” or similar. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. 😜😂

@MelHomeschools I think it depends (sorry!). Have you done both, and which feels less soul sucking? Do you prefer predictable work or constant change? How do you feel about seasonal work?

Can any #taxtwitter share their sincere opinion? I currently have a bachelor's degree & work for an e-com co. I want to figure out a career in bookkeeping or tax prep. What is my path- in your opinion? A prep course like Intuit offers to see if I can do this or back to school and for what exactly? Bookkeeping? Tax prep? I'm uncertain the path

@adammarkowitzEA Oh, I know how you feel. We lost Dwayne suddenly last October, and we’re still not over him. It’s still tough to look at his photos. His spirit is everywhere in our house.

Days like today, the house has just felt so empty. I kept Teddy's bed in my office this tax season even though he's been gone a few months, but I decided today was when I was ready to let it go. Will forever keep his scarf, though. He was the best Chief Opawrating Officer ever.

I asked AI to draft an Independent Contractor agreement that complied with CA law. I got 4 new exceptions to AB5 (that don't actually exist). Good thing I checked the cites. #TaxTwitter

@TaxHacker My fault. Sometimes I make up fake names and refer people to you. Speaking of which, did Smel Mafahrt ever reach out to you?

"Nothing wrong with this," 2026 edition: PC e-mails and says he was referred by CPA I've never heard of (and can't find a valid license for). He's looking for someone who is "pioneering in the world of taxes." Oh, and PC and CPA? Both have Gmail addresses. #TaxTwitter

If you're trying to date a tax attorney...eh, why? (seriously, all tax attorneys are cool, I'm just kidding.) To get them to text you back, just tell them "The IRS/FTB are at my door.." They'll wish you well, and go back to doomscolling about AI taking their jobs. #TaxTwitter
THEJaxEsq@THEJaxEsq

If you’re trying to date a medical device product attorney but they aren’t texting you back, invite them out and tell them “I’m thinking of advertising an untested, uncleared device ChatGPT told me was a great idea to consumers ahead of clearance of the device. Especially in France.”

@BrianDavisTax @ajthecpa1226 Which, magically, equals their "cash advance." "Cash advance," or what us old timers called "Rapid refund." Also known as a "refund anticipation loan." The grift keeps grifting, just the name changes.

@IshDtax @ajthecpa1226 The fine print says “file by 3/31.” The ad says “file by 3/18.” But sure, I want these guys preparing and filing my taxes because the quality is there.

#Taxtwitter Check out TT's latest campaign. Includes all tax situations huh? 🤔Maybe we can outsource those returns with 200+ page K-1's? What else could we throw at this since any possible tax filing is covered?
