@StellaFin5 They will be designing theirs by drawing it out and then using supplies (fabrics, sequins, paper…) but they’d love to see how something is designed digitally!

Over the next two weeks, my 3rd graders will be designing and making Halloween costumes for their stuffed animals. I’m looking for someone in the design world to have a zoom sesh to tell them about the design process. If you are interested please let me know!

@alicekeeler Yes! My kids always ask “but what if I do worse on my retake,” and I always respond with “then I throw it away!” I can’t recall a time a student ever did worse, but just like us SS are afraid of failure.

Kid scores 100% on a retest... Only given a 70%. For what possible justification do we put scores in the gradebook that do not match what a student knows? There is no average time to learn something. Punishing students for taking longer to learn something seems archaic

Activities students led: art and drawing, multiplication and multiplication bingo, oobleck, slime, paper hats, pipe cleaner butterflies, coding, paper fortune tellers, soccer tricks, basketball, and how to make a bookmark.

3rd graders led Buddies Workshops yesterday and it was magic to watch! They worked all week to write lesson plans, prepare materials, create signs, and fun activities to lead their 1st grade buddies in. #studentstakethelead @RioSTEAMSchool @RioSDLive @Flitteringteach

My favorite part of teaching is when the lesson comes straight from the students. Ss working together to measure their pipe cleaner jump rope they made to play as a business to sell at student store. @RioSTEAMSchool @RioSDLive

I know people like to dump on Twitter as some sort of hellsite because of all the trolls and dumb takes and bad news, but a lot of these animal-video feeds are like mini serotonin factories

Thinking like architects to draw blue prints and label the classroom space so there’s a visual representation of their measurements. @RioSTEAMSchool

So much hands on engagement as Ss measured the perimeter of the room to find the area in order to equally divide the space for little buddies workshops they will be leading on Friday! @RioSTEAMSchool
