Recently I've seen a lot of tweets dunking on university degrees, things along the lines of "degrees are pointless" or "Twitter is better than university", but I believe this mindset is problematic; here's why:

As your day progresses, your willpower diminishes. Use this knowledge accordingly and do the hardest task first.

Three reasons why you should stop looking for hacks: 1. They very rarely work 2. Hacking doesn’t help you learn valuable skills 3. Anyone promising ‘hacks’ will likely be selling you something unsustainable and take your money for the privilege

One under-utilised productivity tip: Clean the area you’re going to be working in. This reduces the barrier to work and makes getting started easier.

Your discipline, not emotions, decide what you do. Therefore your discipline determines your future.

Just because you start something doesn't mean you should finish it. You have to continuously reassess your progress and priorities - and know when to quit something if you want to be successful.

When you're fatigued, you make bad decisions. So if you have a big decision to make, sleep on it - then decide with no distractions.

@melissasteginus At some point we have to ask ourselves: what is the point of all this productivity? We’re already at the stage where AI outperforms us in creative output. Wouldn’t it be great if that increased productivity benefitted us all so we could work less? :)

People don't need more productivity hacks, platitudes, or generic advice. We need more purposeful discussion around HOW to figure out what to focus on and how to slow down, rest, and re-focus. (Coming from someone teaching intentional productivity *because of* previous burnout)

And for the creative people out there.. “The act of creation causes imagination”

@martyna_io @LaBeaFischer Absolutely, and do we even want to read books produced by AI? I sometimes wonder what it means for mankind as a whole that we seem so willing to put our faith in artificial intelligence to produce one of the things we learn from..

@LaBeaFischer Ugh I also really don’t like how everyone says “AI will replace writers / artists / musicians” and now even girlfriends apparently. Do we really want to live in such a world? I want to hear from real people and their experiences, not a word prediction algorithm.

Business savvy? Maybe. But geez, don't we suffer from social anxiety enough already?! If we can just pay "someone" to talk to us, what will that do to our real-life interactions? How will we handle rejection, misunderstandings, insecurities or just different opinions? And most importantly, what all humans long for, How are we going to build connection? I swear, if we lose the ability to do that, we're gonna be freaking screwed.

The number 1 cure for loneliness is taking an interest in other people. Caring about them instead of being only concerned about yourself. Go out, talk to a stranger, smile at people, help someone out (don’t be creepy 😉). Genuine interest build connections. Not self-interest.

Your energy is one of your most precious resources. Don’t compromise your effort by working on an empty tank.

The key to consistency is finding joy in the small incremental progress you make, then using this to propel you forward.
