My dad ate this more than me, but I ate it a bit too. My dad would also do this thing where he would crush saltines up and put them in a bowl of milk and eat it like cereal. I never could do that but he did and I guess he liked it.

@owroot I'd watch my dad meticulously butter a plate of soda crackers, then carefully put grape jelly on each one. Then I'd say, "Can I have some?" And even though he just spent about ten minutes on those, he'd give me a couple.

I don’t want to share the video of Erika Kirk last night but that’s what PTSD looks like. Heartbreaking. The mockery it triggered just strengthens my faith in God. There are times when seeing the good in the world is more difficult, but you can always see the evil.

@truthandhyssop I pulled the extension office coordinator & our project leader aside & showed them. They spoke with the judge (who had apparently been reprimanded multiple times already). It ended in a shouting match in the hallway & then an apology from the coordinator to all the kids 😏

Volunteer boomer judge at a 4-H event wrote on my daughter’s score sheet: “DO NOT ENTER A ROOM & INSULT YOUR JUDGE. ARROGANT”. Reader, do you know what my sweet well-mannered 12 year old daughter dared to do? She initiated a handshake with the judge & introduced herself.

I’ll just say that many conservative academics are way too precious, don’t understand power, lack the courage to say publicly anything truly socially costly, hide behind canonical figures and texts, have naïve views about the forces working against them, and are insufficiently grateful to those activists and journalists who fight politically on their behalf so they can keep out of the trenches and always claim the high moral ground.
