@AustinChiangMD Agreed. There was a trend towards statistical significance for success of the push technique alone in the early group. This suggests that early intervention might be a/w decreased need for accessories. We need future studies with higher power to investigate this further.

Interesting that accessory use a/w adverse events. There's a trend toward more accessory use, less push alone, more ulceration with delayed intervention though. Makes me think maybe more technically challenging if wait longer.

Great study by my awesome former co-fellow @TimothyKrillMD in @GIE_Journal 👀 at outcomes for esophageal #FoodImpactions ✅EGD w/in vs. beyond 12 hrs of symptom onset has similar outcomes ✅Adverse events increase with accessory use Important❓ Can EGD wait until the AM

A great thread from @BrennanSpiegel. This is what I mentioned on the @CrohnsColitisFn Facebook Live event. ▶️ACE2 receptors (mode of entry for SARS-CoV-2) present in sm bowel ▶️SARS-CoV-2 detectable in stool ▶️Reasonable to think that fecal spread occurs ▶️WASH YOUR HANDS! ✋🤚

Evolving #COVID19 data, please share: Could COVID19 spread through stool? In this thread, I will summarize what our editorial team at #AmJGastro knows about the risk of fecal spread. I will start by emphasizing that we do *not* yet know, for sure, if it spreads though... (1/10)

My general stance is that losing groups of staff (MDs, nurses, techs etc), can happen v. quickly and is devastating clinically (think of how many patients any given staff member can care for in a week)- so N95s probably the way to go across the board. #GIjournalclub

Hot off the Press: Study shows that up to 50% of #COVID19 patients may present with GI symptoms including #anorexia and #diarrhea. And these patients had a worse clinical course. Let’s make sure our colleagues and the @CDCgov recognize this new information #NotJustCough

Seeing the #Covid_19 trend from other countries, it seems that elective procedures willl eventually be cancelled & resouces better utilized where pts will “most” need it. Lets not wait for a pt or staff member to get sick before acting on it Keeping staff safe = better for pts
