@PeterRoffey5 Tbh though, history tells us that a single star athlete (brought to international level by a development coach) leads other talented athletes into their environment, with success breeding success. It’s not necessarily indicative of anything incredibly different from other groups

@THE_Chris_Evans @JennyMeadows800 Their formula certainly seem to be incredible successful. In two ways. Not only are their athletes performing really well but, just as importantly, they seem to be happy and relaxed.

Some important questions re @JennyMeadows800, Trevor Painter and their set up. How can they be recognised/rewarded for their outstanding contribution to UK Athletics? And how can their achievements and culture be replicated on a larger scale across the sport?

@AthleticsGBR Was basically an A and B final… not always a fan of BBC comms (mostly Colin) but I don’t see how you can say this format works for 400 indoors. 200 yes if they were to bring it back. Blatantly clear the athletes in final 1 hated it

Aah shaddap... I like it 👍. Not really a true time trial as well, this is 2 competitive races.

Abi is looking back to her best after Southerns 🥈 2 weeks ago but has been ill in the meantime so we decided to miss nationals

I'd just like to point out that he did it from lane 2 of a 6 lane track on a windy day in 10C. So pretty much identical conditions to where he trains in Cardiff. 😁

@TomDruce I’ve really enjoyed it and thought the coverage has been good. Wind readings are nice to help compare performances to other comps, maybe they don’t want that???

I feel this is due to his lack of game time, he’s only started four games since arriving on loan from Villa, so the odds may not reflect his true output. He’s managed a shot in all four starts and has started the last three matches for Middlesbrough. Looking at his four starts: • vs Oxford: 1 shot • vs Luton: 2 shots • vs QPR: 2 shots • vs Sheff Utd: 1 shot I’m aware he’s been playing at left-back instead of midfield, but this hasn’t limited his attacking contributions, he even registered two assists last game. Blackburn are higher up the table than most teams he's started against, but Middlesbrough have taken the second most shots in the Championship (547), an average of 14 shots per90. Only Leeds have taken more shots. Blackburn rank 8th worst in the league for shots conceded, allowing just under 12 per 90. Of the 13 teams below them, they concede more shots than seven, including Derby and Cardiff, who are both battling relegation. 18+, gamble responsibly.

I know we're biased, but the 800 is the toughest track event to win at the Olympics. All plaudits are so well-deserved.

@IanTnf 😂😂 you get the point I’m making though. I would concur that 400/800 are toughest events, but in terms of how tough it is to get the Olympic title I don’t agree the 800 is toughest. Upshot is it’s great for her to get the accolade.Wasn’t a fan of the Nike branding on dress tho

@TomDruce That precarious balance between speed and endurance, high level of competition and the need for tactics. And the qualification rounds! We see plenty of shocks in the semis.

@IanTnf In the British context, I would say that either end of the track spectrum are the toughest events to win. Unless by ‘tough’ you’re exclusively referring to the pain endured in the training for the event
