David Bowie's "Modern" albums from 1992 onwards are as good, if not better, than anything he did in the 60s or 70s.

@mech_virus @anon_opin I would in no way want to denigrate Scary Monsters, but honestly have a listen to Outside and everything after. It's not all good but I would be very surprised if you didn't change your mind.

@anon_opin Yeah, Outside is a masterpiece, my favourite of the 4 albums he did with Eno. Earthling and Heathen are fantastic, the final two albums are wonderful.

@jemgilbert Yeah. As an undergrad metal fan on what turned out to be a mostly classical music course, I argued loudly (and probably stupidly) in favour of subjectivity cos the only alternative appeared to be that music peaked in the 1700s in Europe.

@jemgilbert I agree, but would add that when studying music everyone I met who argued music was objective insisted it was objective of itself, devoid of context and culture. And that Mozart was just best at music . Which I thought was silly too.
